Working on the Dreaded Book Cover Blurb — What Do You Think of It?

This afternoon I finally forced myself to do one of my most dreaded tasks as a writer:

Writing the book cover blurb.

Meme That look when you don't want to work on your book cover blurb
But I don’t WANT to write the book cover blurb!

After about an hour of agony, here’s what I came up with. Please let me know what you think. Does it make sense? Should I change anything? Do you have any suggestions? Let me know in the comments, or email me.

Thanks!

Confessions of a Wedding Musician Mom

By Jennifer McCoy Blaske

Everybody on the planet seems to know what they’re doing in life, except stay at home mom Heather Hershey.  At least, that’s what it feels like to her … until an old friend reminds her of a certain passion she once had in her younger years.  NOW Heather knows what she wants to do!

Or does she?

Acting on suggestions from her patient husband, a zany neighbor, total strangers, and even her out-of-control kids, Heather navigates, but mostly blunders, her way through the mine field of starting your own business.  With all the sure-footedness of a drunkard running an obstacle course, Heather’s missteps somehow keep her on her feet, but never confident she’s actually making any progress.

Where she DOES deliver is in making us laugh hysterically at the unpredictable situations she winds up in and how they play out toward her success.  Or is it her failure?  We honestly never know until after the fact.  And that’s part of the joy in this surprisingly quick and entertaining read.

Jennifer McCoy Blaske sews together a magnificent patchwork of quirky characters who blend and clash and ultimately create an enjoyable landscape of both pandemonium and heartfelt hilarity.
