Hurray — it’s Swim Team Season, So I Get to Read!

It’s late May, which means swim team practice for the kids started about a week and a half ago.

My view from where I sit and read

In true writer/introvert form, I always set up our stuff over by the playground. Believe it or, it’s much quieter there than by the pavilion which is jam-packed with both parents and siblings.

Since practice is five days a week and lasts a minimum of an hour, this is always the time of year that I get a lot of reading done.

So far I’ve finished Woman with a Secret by Sophie Hannah. I almost didn’t read it, because it had something like a two and a half star rating on Amazon, but it sounded intriguing, so I read it anyway.

In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I started reading Kind of Cruel, an earlier book in the series. (Since the books are stand-alone detective mysteries, it doesn’t seem to matter what order you read them in.)

In the meantime, I am also doing my YA novel research for my next book by reading How to Be Popular by Meg Cabot:

What about you? Do you get more time to read, now that it’s summer? What are you currently reading? Let me know in the comments.
