During the year I spent playing the piano at Von Maur department store, I always played at least two (usually three) Carole King songs during my shift.
Why do I like Carole King? Well, obviously, her songs translate really well to piano. She uses a lot a major seven chords, which I love. She’s co-written some of the best Monkees songs (like “Pleasant Valley Sunday” and “Star Collector”).
And the fact that she has reddish-brown, curly hair also helps. 🙂
